Belitung is a word that comes from the name of the meteor rocks that we call the BILLITONITE. Rocks that have long buried in the soil of this island thousands of years and gradually decayed become an element of mine who is very useful for people's lives around. Tin and kaolin mineral is very valuable on the island other than commodity goods such as palm oil plantations and pepper (sahang: Language Belitung). Natural beauty is stunning for visitors / tourists both domestic and foreign, diverse arts and cultures blended together to give unique to this island perfection. But at least the thing should be mentioned at the beginning a major contribution to the prosperity of the island communities Belitung. And what about reality?
Most BelitungIslands community livelihood depend on marine resources around the island. Or can we say their profession is fishing. As Belitung society in general who is a fisherman has a level of education that is not too high, it affects the pattern of life and their way of thinking that a simple and pragmatic.
BelitungIsland is a small island belonging to the province of Bangka-Belitung. On the island itself is divided into two districts, the west districts with the capital Tanjungpandan and the east district with capital manggar. Each city has its own characteristics and differences in state demographics.
